LARRY BECK

This is not really my photo, but that of Geronimo, a Bedonkohe Apache leader of the Chiricahua Apache, who led his people's defense of their homeland against the military might of the United States.  He died in US military custody in 1879, far from his Southwest American homeland.  On his deathbed he is reported to have said: "I should have never surrendered. I should have fought until I was the last man alive."

HARD LEFT TURN is my best effort to keep on fighting for a better human condition on the planet we share.  I encourage others to use this platform to contribute to this cause.

    BUNKERED DOWN

Attorney General Barr announced today that President Trump has been moved to the official White House bunker.  The move was necessitated by Trump's concerns about a lawless "autonomous zone" in Washington.  Jared Kushner has been tasked with locating this zone, determining its proximity to the White House and personally eliminating the threat.  Kushner's family has been moved to a secret country club in New Jersey until the mission is completed.

MARCHING TO THE BEAT OF A MINDLESS DRUM

It has finally happened.  Trump is all in on saving the world from the Coronavirus pandemic, not just America, but the whole world.  Just so there is no confusion, Trump sees himself as the savior.  And the annual resurrection-fes...

    COLLECTIVE CONSCIENCE FEEDS THE SOUL

The year 2019 is ending.  Traditions abound to celebrate the coming of a new year, and this time around a new decade.  There seems to be some notion that celebrating the coming year will wash away all of the detritus of the year just...

FACTS FINALLY SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

The impeachment narrative is going well at the moment.  The Democrats in the House of Representatives are making daily headlines about both substance and process.  They throw in a few Ukraine facts and witnesses that support the nar...

AWASH IN A SEA OF HYPOCRISY

Cradled in the midst of all that is wrong with Trump and his silent and venal Republican accomplices is more hypocrisy than one essay could ever capture.  But I am going try.  To hit the ground running, racism is a good place to start....

DR. FORD MADE ME CRY TOO

Sorting out the ramifications of what has become known as the Me Too movement has become daily fare for those who make a living dissecting America’s political, social, and cultural developments.  Unlike some movements that never catch on – remem...

    COLLECTIVE COMA OVERWHELMS COLLECTIVE CONSCIENCE

I happen to like to listen to country music, Christian preaching, evangelical problem-solving, and right-wing radio.  So, I had a lot to listen to on my recent solo car and camping journey through West Virginia, Kentucky,...

A NATION AWASH IN A SEA OF IGNORANCE

The word “deplorable” got its own place in political lore when Hillary Clinton decided to create a “basket of deplorables” chock full of people who were buying so much of what Trump was selling in the 2016 presidential election.*  No...

HUMANE OUTCOMES DEFINE A NATION’S WORTH

Changing times can be hard times, particularly for those without much of a moral compass to guide them.  It seems that after millennia of harassment and abuse, women have chosen 2017 to find their voice.  Likewise, after decades o...

GIVING OF ONESELF IS THE BEST RESISTANCE
